sump refugium setup

Hello. I got my sump setting up today. I had it custom made and wires got crossed somewhere and its not exactly what i was wanting. I wanted to put the skimmer in with the filter sock chamber but as can see from pix it wont fit in any chamber but the middle. I wanted a refugium in the middle but thats not,going to work now. I was wondering if it would work in sock chamber or if i put the return i, the middle and refugium on the far end. If i put return n middle with skimmer and refugium on the end doesn't seem like the refugium will do any good that way am i wrong? Amy help would be appreciated!

The refugium in the sock chamber actually allows the algae first dibs on the nutrients.

I don't see a picture, like you mentioned in the post. But, would going with a skimmer with a smaller footprint help you set it up the way you originally planned?
