I have a 110 gallon tall tank. My stand inside dimensions are 40x18 deep. I made it higher than typical 26.5. I'm still tossing around making one vs buying one. Looks like the largest I could fit would be 36" or as little as 30". I really have no idea what else has to go into the stand beside the sump. Not sure if I should go no larger than 30" to accommodate other equipment??

Thanks!

I have a 90 gallon display with a 27 gallon aquarium as a sump and it works great. In the sump I added baffles and a decider to make 3 areas. I used 1/4 in Plexiglas's to make my baffles. They have been in for a year with no issues. First has the overflow/ filter sock and the skimmer(10in), second is the fug (12 in) , then I have a bubble trap and the the return pump. I also have some bags of media in that area too. You will need to leave space in the stand for the fresh water tank for ato if you have one. Also the electronics took up more space than I thought it would.

It is a matter of personal preference. I have 1/4 of the room under my tank dedicated to my control system and the other 3/4 is my sump. This means my ATO container and dosers can't fit under my tank.

I'm assuming your 90 is the same footprint is my 110 48"x18". Never thought of the plexiglass, that seems like a good idea! one issue I have found is I haven't seen any used tanks in the area yet :( Yes I thinking I will have an ATO. I don't plan on anything outside the stand as I really don't have room.

Thanks for the response!

Not sure what you refer to as control system? So the ATO and dosers are else where? I hope to house everything underneath as space is limited around the tank.

I use an Apex automation controller on my system.

I wish I could keep everything under my stand, I just ran out of room. Its just a bad tank size. 72"x18"x21". It's so narrow I had to use a 55g to get the volume I wanted in my sump. A tank with more depth would give much better options and space under the tank.

I use a 7 gallon water storage container from Walmart for my ato. It cost about $10. So it easily fits with the sump. I don't have a controller on that tank but I would like to get one.
