Sump/Refugium size for 60 gallon tank?

Will likely go on cinderblock stand, so in theory I would have enough room for a 40 breeder. . . Wanting 3 chambers, socks, big fuge, and return. . .

Should I max out or go a bit smaller?

10-20 gallons would be plenty, IMHO.

Not going to be a "rack" as in the video, but will be very similar. sump will sit in between the cinder block supports, probably 1cinder block high and the display will sit directly above the supports, likely 5 cinder blocks high (Display will be 40" off the ground, sump 8" off the ground, 16" of clearance between sump and display. I will probably use the cross beams to mount a door or magnetic front to hide sump.

I know that this method has been used by many with good success, at least I have not heard of any failures. That said, I can understand the concern and would likely use some furniture anchors into the cross beams for a tiny bit of added "support"?

i did a 20 on my 60 and i think its way to small i would do 30

Nice. It’s not really the strength that I question, it’s the toppling over if a child tried to climb up it or a dog jumped on it or something. Being that they are just stacked and extremely top heavy I would think the risk is there.
