Hello everyone,

I have a rack system I built and Im currently experiencing problems with my pump running dry due to water flow issues in my return chamber. I built my sump pretty basic three chambers (overflow, refugium and Return). I used 1 inch piping all the way around and have no issues with water flowing from my tanks down to the sump overflow chamber then into my refugium...the problem starts after or before my bubble trap baffles that seperate my refug from my return chamber. The water flow slows way down and my pump out paces the water traveling into said chamber Im trying to fix this issue.
Pump- Hydor 2400gph Seltz split between 6 tanks and six return nozzles
Overflow- 1 inch pvc Piping 960gph gravity fed

what setting is the pump on? how big are the tanks?
Tanks are all 73 gals each including the sump.

X2 Display Tanks 73 gal 70x20x12
X1 Sump Tank 73 gal 70x20x12

Pump running at full power. Im more concerned at the slow flow rate the water fills the last chamber. Baffles are 1 inch apart and the last baffle is 1 inch lower then the first baffle in the overflow chamber

Your pump is out pacing your overflow from the tank or tanks. Your first 2 chambers do not really matter. They will always be full.
Easy fix is turn your pump down if has a controller. If not put a valve on the return to throttle back the pumps output.

turn the pump down for now if you need flow but if the sump is running off a single 1" line you need a 1" line per 90 gallons for a 10x return, you can make that much easier with large diameter return lines.
