Sump return compartment empty

That sump design seems way off with the baffles.

Can you post a picture of the full sump from the side, so we can see what baffles you have and what heights they are? That last section the pump is in is very low for some reason.

Agree. That looks really weird in a bad way.

You need more water. Position return outlets as close to the waters surface as possible to reduce how much water flows back to sump after shutdown and add more saltwater. The water is just starting to make it back to sump by the time pump runs out of water. Add a gallon and see what it does, I think you will need 2
