Sump/setup help

I am not new to saltwater, but I am new to sumps. I have this overflow drilled out going to a 30g sump, but I have no idea what to put in each chamber or how best to run pipe down there? Not really sure what I’m doing.

Generally, a three compartment runs from one end to another: Socks/Roller, Skimmer, Return. My sump back in the day had the overflow going through a sock to the Skimmer side, then flowing to the return side (2 compartments). There are other variations, of course.....

I Ended up swapping it all to pvc. I do have a durso fitting on it but it’s still a little noisier than I’d like. Not really sure what to do with that but everything at least works.
