I am working with eshopps nano cube sump and I feel like it is a bit too small for the 60.

Does it matter on the sump size or it's just preference on the person ?

What is everyone working with

Strictly preference. You can run a very successful tank without a sump. If the sump will support the flow you want, and will hold the equipment you want in it, then it is the right size.

Just make sure you have enough room for when the power is off to the return pump.

I have an 18 gallon square sump under my 60 cube. fits perfectly and has three compartments. It really depends on how much room you have. Bigger is always better in my opinion.

I used to think that bigger was always better which is why I have a 55g sump under my 120g tank. I can't tell you how much I wish I had installed a 40g tall sump. I could really use the extra dry space under my tank for other things. The little bit of extra stability from the additional water volume isn't worth it anymore in my opinion.

HaHa, yes it sounds like you went to the extreme. I would like more sump room, but do not want it outside of the stand, sooo will stick with what I have. The smaller the DT, the more the extra sump volume helps with stability, IMO. I also believe in refugium with maco, so that takes up a full compartment in my small sump.
