I will be upgrading to a 120g in the next few weeks if I can find one in stock somewhere. I currently have a 57g with an Emerald 26 sump. Would this work for the 120 or am I going to have to go larger? I have plan to go larger down the road but would like to use what I have for right now.

Thanks!

Would work if bio load stays about the same. If/when you add more livestock, you'll probably need to upgrade the sump.

Any size that fits your needs and equipment will work. Bigger is better.

Thanks! I will eventually go with a 40 breeder with one of the sump kits but as long as I can use this sump for a bit, i'm happy. Trying to save a bit of money until I can get everything moved over. Then I'll start doing some upgrading of other parts.

I don't have a sump at all and my 90g is doing just fine.

I have a eshopps 30 gallon sump on my 150 and the guy I bought this system from ran it with that sump for 4+ years. He had a fully maxed out tank. You also got to consider what you want to put down there for filtration.
Refungi, socks or protein skimmer? A combination?! Are you going to want room to start a frag tank down there? Are you wanting to put fish that might cause problems?!
Just things to think about, hope it helps.

Do you have the standard footprint? I was trying to decide between the 90 and 120. At almost 300 more for the 120, was wondering if it is worth the extra price. Do find yourself missing the extra 6 inches of width?

Yup. Just for aquascaping reasons though.

Large sumps rock. I use a 100G stock tank and have it fully automated ATO Kalk reactor ect ect. its great for doing my water changes which I hooked drain lines into the plumbing so water changes are only moving a few gate valves and im done. 10 minute 100G water changes
