I know I should just use the search feature...sorry!
In general, how many gallons should my sump hold for a 235 gallon tank?

Thanks in advance!

As large as you can fit.

@Flippers4pups said it......

If it's in the stand directly below the tank, I'd like to see at least a 75. If the sump/refugium is remote (in the basement), limitless. I've seen multiply 100 or 150 gallon stock tanks.

Realistically, I wouldn't go smaller than a 75.

I am about to do a couple 240s and am going to use 150 gallon rubbermaid troughs.

The 625 Shark pool will have two.

1/4 the size of the main while running with enough room to hold water when everything is off. Me... I would go with a 100g and that will give you everything you need for space.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
Doh! That is a little bigger than I thought.
On a concrete slab so no basement...my bedroom closet is right behind that wall though lol

I've never heard of a sizing guideline for sumps.
It's always been, " use the biggest container you can fit into the room you have available".
