Sump Size Question

There's no size it will work up to. That sump is 41.7 gallons so personally I would only get a bigger one if your tank is over around 200 gallons. Of course the bigger the better though. If you can fit a huge sump then thats your best bet most times, the extra water volume and space for equipment/fuge is great to have.
 
I am using the exact tideline 36. Display is 48"L x 23"W x 21"H (90 gallon). Actual water volume for this 36 is about 25~30 ish gallon, and IMO the sump is on the large side for my tank.

Oh yeah, I forget to add that, thank you very much! Since the sump is only filled a few inches instead of full its not the full 40 gallons
