Hey guys,

so I had to down size my tank into a nano tank and lost everything. Now I’m going to be upsizing my old set up to a 140g tank. I have the skimmer, sump, and wave makers. My question, obviously is about the size of the sump. It’s a trigger 36ish in sump. I have plenty of room length wise under the tank, but idk what size I should use for that size tank? Any and all advice is welcome.

I'm running the Trigger Systems CR44 for my 120. Still setting things up but seems to have enough room. That would work for your tank or maybe on of their fleece roller models.

I have a Trigger systems crystal 36 under my 6' 125. I'm happy with the layout of the sump and the size of the fuge. I like the fact that I still have room for other equipment under the tank. If I would have done anything differently, I would liked to have had colored or opaque panels between the fuge and other sections of the sump to reduce algae growth in the other sections. Of course, I might have gone bigger, but with the equipment that I have under the tank, the size is right. Hope this helps.

Do any of you all think you need a bigger one for a bigger tank? I’m honestly happy with the one I have and it was under a 90g. Probably 110g total volume. So I’d only be going up roughly 30g. I’d probably need to upsize my skimmer though.

No need to upgrade unless you need more room for equipment.
Get a skimmer thats rated for your system is the best advice I can give.
A skimmer may say good for 300 gal, like mine, but research showed its really good for a heavilly stocked tank of 120 gal.

This. As long as it holds all your equipment, refugium, water during pump shutdown, no need to go bigger. Larger/longer sumps tend to have a slower flow which can be beneficial.
