Sump & skimmer compatibility question.

Ideal height for my sump is 8". If a skimmer is 9" what happens?

From what I understand the recommended height has to do with the air / water mix so if you don’t have it at the right height it will effect how the skimmer works. It may not work as well or possibly not at all. If your skimmer isn’t submerged in enough water then you would have to make the baffle higher in the skimmer chamber.
