I put a new sump sock into my sump(eshopp rs100 gen 3) yesterday and now my skimmer (bubble magnus curve 9) won't stop over producing bubbles and is spilling out the top of the skimmer.
I rinsed the sock and I soaked the sock before I put it in as well. Any help please

Sounds like something got introduced with the sock. What do you rinse and soak it in? I assume all your livestock is doing fine so it’s likely not anything very dangerous to them, just will be annoying for a few days.

It's normal for the skimmer to go crazy when you add a new sock to the sump. It will die down eventually. Your skimmer comes with a stem at the bottom of the collection cup. It may be a good idea to setup a jug to hold your skimmate. You can use a tube to extend the stem to it. This will prevent it from getting into your tank if it overflows.
Edit: I have the same skimmer... you can take the top off of the collection cup and open the valve all the way (looks like it is from the pic). The bubbles should dissipate at the top and there should be no overflow.

Very normal. Just turn the skimmer down for a little.

Yeah. Some of the socks has some type of soapy resin in them. You can put in the washer machine with extra rinse cycles as well with a bit a bleach if you like. If you have a small tank, a water change would benefit you as well.

Our socks would make the skimmer go crazy after we washed them with bleach. Even when we rinsed them a few times and let them bake in the sun. When we switched to using oxiclean instead, it stopped. What are you using to wash them?
It was a new one that I bought I just washed in plain water and soaked in RO water

I'm getting no skimmate it's only producing a ton of bubbles

Have you taken the lid off of the cup? You will get bubbles but was hoping that it wouldn't overflow. That's what I do with mine whenever I add a new sock or use too much epoxy. Seems like it's breaking in again. I just leave the top off and let the skimmer work.

Run the skimmer cup into a bucket and replace what you remove with new saltwater. It's like a mini water change and will calm your skimmer down guaranteed.

100% dial the the skimmer down to around 2.5 for 24 hours then have it back around 3 and all is good happens every time I add new socks [emoji106]

Those are all good suggestions which I do with new socks but as a kicker after washing the new socks to clean it of residuals and oils from manufacturing I then soak in RO water mixed with a couple caps of Prime mixed in for 24 hours. Take socks out, rinse in sink then should be good to go. For me, that usually does the trick.
Good luck and happy reefing!
