Going to upgrade to a 90 gallon soon. Im planning on making a sump out of a 30 gallon tank. What's the ideal amount of space under the tank you guys aim for? Can I see some pictures of some basic sump set ups? Also thinking about getting the bubble magus arf-1. Anyone know what the foot print is for it. I can't find much on it. Thanks reefers.

More you need more space !! Always lol if it looks like eh that should be enough.. it’s not

That’s under my 40b it’s a pro clear 100 sump. Designed to be used on up to 100 gallons display tank
Wish I had gotten bigger

I agree, get the biggest tank you can fit under the tank. Im using a 29g sump for my 90g and wish i had something longer, even if it was 1/2 of a foot longer.
Are you planning on buying a prebuilt or making it yourself?

I’ll tell ya what my actual ideal size is. 100% of dt volume. Not joking in any way. I’d love to have enough room for a massive fugue and room for all the other equipment. 120 gal ? Buy two. Going with a 40b buy two.
Just my opinion but you can’t have too much space and water volume. Long as the floor can take it

Im going to buy a tank and put the baffles in myself. I'm thinking about getting a 30 gallon because it's 36 inches long. I'd like to have 4 compartments in the sump. 1st for the filter sock, 2nd for the skimmer, 3rd for a refugium, and then a return. I'm just worried about the height of the sump and the working space in between it and the DT for maintenance.

Scrub it once every two weeks. The chato actually keeps the neuts low enough so the other algae don’t really get a chance.

Easy as glass lol. No but seriously if you have any skill with tools you can cut it with a saw. Or a Dremel
