now that I am moving the sump to the basement, size unknown at this time, I have been looking on CL for a used set up. Seen a few 55 gallon tanks for cheap, but they come with the standard stand. Regardless of size, i'd like to get the sump stand lower to the ground. I do not want to go the wood route if possible. Me and woodworking do NOT get along. I considered using cinder blocks placed on their sides, but not sure how well that works.

In a nut shell, I'm curious what some of you have used as a stand for a sump that's located in the basement. I don't want the tank on the ground though

(compared to other reefing forums I have been on, this one is certainly busier. I love it. A lot of foot traffic)

Right on the floor.

Have you purchased the 55 yet? Personally, I think they are a bit narrow. I just put my sump in the floor on top of a few 2x4’s

no, i haven't purchased anything yet. still window shopping. i know they're narrow. certainly not ideal.
i used to have a 40g breeder. that was a good size, but i also never had it in a basement, so i was limited on space. now with the basement in the picture, skies the limit to what i want to spend. i also need to keep in mind, the equipment costs go up too,

my only problem with that is that my floor slopes. the tank would need shimmed. so adding shims under the tank is not ideal
Low as you can, that way, if you ever want to add any frag tanks in the basement, they will be at the correct height.
I wish I would have put mine, about 6” -12” off the floor.
