Lets get a few things out of the way...

Hello, long time reader, first time poster and so new, the new guys in the hobby would be offended.

So here is my question for the day:

I bought a 55 gallon tank from an auction and by chance picked up an identical one for $1. They are 48x13x22. Is there an issue if I use one of them for a display tank and one for the sump or is that too large for a sump? Is there some kind of a ratio between the two?

Discussion....and GO!

There is no issue that I can think of...for the most part, the more water volume the better. I've seen posts on here from people with a sump larger than their DT.
