I am planning my next build and have put together some sketches, that I’d like for you guys to comment on. Specifically the sump setup.
I’m going to build off my existing 40 Breeder display. I will be adding a 30 Breeder frag tank right next to it with one sump under neath it all.
Option A: I’m thinking a double sided sump. Two filter sock sections, two fuge section and one area in the center for two pumps. My concern is the two pumps. If one fails, I think it could be bad. I could go to one pump, but I have really found a fitting that seems like it would be good for splitting the pump based on the configuration I have. Maybe just a tee then a 45? I’d love to save a bit of money and only buy one pump rather than two...
One side will get the carbon reactor and the other side will get the GFO reactor.
Option B: socks on both sides, fuge one side and skimmer on the other. One single pump feeding both tanks. Carbon and GFO will probably go to fuge side.
Pros and cons of either?
