want to put tray under sump to contain drips or notice leak found a lot of boot trays that should foot the bill but some or almost all are not smooth bottom usually grooved for water runoff so ideally flatter the better but does sump structure compromised by no complete surface to surface contact?

I use the heavy rubber like sheet material used to line shower pans between the thickset. Available at the big box stores. Staple to wood or use magnets if you have a steel stand.

I use a Anti-Fatigue foam floor mat (the roll) under both my tank and my sump, it's about 3/8" thick works great and cheap.

Go to AC Moore or any craft store. For $15.00 buy a large baking tray. There’s different sizes, but the largest fits my 60 gal. Sump

This is typically sold as pond liner in the garden section of Home Depot or the like. Works like a champ and is easy to cut to match the space it is filling.

Actually shower liner is different material. I suppose pond liner would work too if you can buy a small enough quantity.

Not looking for a liner but a tray (with sides) just wondering id bottom is not smooth is that critical. Can put a pad beneath if necessary

IMHO If it's acrylic, I'd want as much surface to surface contact as possible. That way there are no pressure points, no matter how small they may be.

I used 3/4 acrylic sheet to build a tray and under my sump. I also used the 1 1/2" Styrofoam packing sheet that protected the sump.
I am a bit over cautious..lol
