Who has attempted this while running an established tank? I am in the middle of running the plumbing (going on 3 days now) while my tank is running without a sump. That alone isn't a big deal, but I am also going without my skimmer, reactors, UV, returns, ATO etc. I am strictly running my two Wavs with a heater placed inside the tank. I have noticed negative reactions on most of my SPS due to less/changed water flow I assume. In addition to the sump, I am also upgrading the Apex, UV, and reactors at the same time. All of the changes at once have me extremely nervous. Couple of questions......
Is it necessary to scrape off all the soon to be dead growth inside the overflow before turning the new sump on?
I know there is no way to know for sure, but should the change of water flow permanently affect any of the SPS? There is almost 0 polyp extension since I made the temporary changes. I have tried adding extra powerheads....didn't seem to make a difference.
How long would you let the PVC cure (if at all) before turning back on with a tankful of sensitive SPS?
Thanks in advance
