Red Sea 425 XL

Been running about 4 months. I'm just not sure if the water level is correct and if not how to adjust it. The water level in the sock area seems fine and the return area stays stable. The refugium area into the skimmer is always high. I've tried removing water but it just fills back up. It just seems odd the level is above the wall separating them and the wall itself has the holes to allow water to flow through.

Also, I get a lot of salt accumulation in the overflow section before the socks. It's not obvious in the photos because I did a water change and cleanup this morning. I get lots of salt up the stand wall and on the pipes.

Thanks for any advice.

I dont see other posts. Please ad pics to this also.
Generally you want to slow down return pump a little to allow return to fill sump
What is likely happening is that the pump is sending water to the tank faster than water is coming into the sump

On many, the baffle before the return section is adjustable and sets the heights for the section(s) before it.
If yours is too full, start by seeing if that last baffle can be lowered. If it can't be or that doesn't work, take out that sponge filter. If it fixes the problem, clean it really well and see if that helps.

I see slots in the baffle before the skimmer section. Are there similar ones in the baffle before the return? If not, and if this is one you assemebled yourself from a kit, you may have assembled it wrong. I think there should be slots in the last baffle.

Do you have a link to where you purchased the sump/kit?

It's a RedSea sump that came with the tank and stand. The 2 walls are different lengths so that isn't the issue.

The simmer/return wall is all the way down and if I remove the sponge it does increase the water level in the return, but doesn't change the level in the refug/skimmer areas.

Should the water level be that high?

Lowering the Skimmer/Return wall didn't help since it was already as lower as it would go. However, when I raised the wall and allowed water to flow under the wall it lowered the water level in the refug/skimmer areas.

Is this a solution to the problem or just a new complication?
