So I have an redsea e-260 the display part is filled to an inch of the top but the sump behind (I am using the built in skimmer) the Water level is about 8” from the top and about 4” below the lowest setting for the skimmer should it be higher? Or is this ok?

I would definitely raise it up a bit to where there is no splashing it will probably help prevent some microbubbles as well assuming there is some from that splashing
Thanks I will add some more water but where should the water level be? I assume below the lowest setting of the skimmer? As you can see I get a lot of splashing at the moment.

Yes I would go about half inch to and inch below that setting,Will help with evaporation as well shouldn't lose as much water without the splashing

Slow down return pump rate which will allow more water into the sump.
Currently it is likely pumping water out faster than its coming in
