I lose 3-4 gallons a day on a 300 gallon system. An ATO is the only way to go. if you were leaking 2 gallons a day you would see it.

The tanks in my basement so it gets a little hot but I'm going to get an auto-top off next paycheck and install a valve on my return valve after my anemone settles. Thanks for everyone's help and I'll post after I get each one done (It'll be a couple days)

Thanks you two, I'll throw on my old power head and try to get it done as quickly as possible. Maybe at night when everything isn't moving and hopefully my anemone won't move
If you're halfway decent with plumbing, you could put most of it together before you take the old off. Put the horizontal pieces together first, when you're ready to put it in then you could shut it down to install it. That would cut down the time with everything shut down

Update: after three visits to home depot (they kept messing my online order up) I finally installed a valve on my return line. Great suggestion, my water line instantly went back up with no dead spots in the tank still. Now I'll keep my eye on it before I invest in an ato system
