Sump with future plans

I am building a sump for future plans for a possible Diablo Skimmer. I have seen the sizes on the web, but Is the dimensions good for use or is it just the size of the skimmer. What I am asking is, Does it need 1" of space all around it or like 6." I am planning on buying the skimmer in the next six months, but I am building my sump now. So trying to figure out layout of skimmer.

As long as it fits and doesn't vibrate against the walls and isn't sitting in a low flow area it should be fine I'd give it at least 2" personally.

I would go a bit larger than 2" on the end where the pump is. I have to be careful when working in my sump not to accidentally bump the skimmer and get the intake of the pump up against the glass.
