What is the advantage to adding a sump? I already have a filter that keeps my aquarium clean and I do weekly partial water changes.

Sumps are a great place for equipment and a decent place for a refugium. It's also far easier to add water to a sump than a display tank while performing a water change. However, it can sometimes be a challenge to keep the falling water quite.
