Hey,

So right now I am using a modified wet dry filter as my sump. Basically I took out all the bioballs but because of the way it was design, I only have about 15 inches of sump to put all my equipment in and things are starting to get crowded. I started to look at buying a simple Berlin style sump with filter socks and then a baffle before the return chamber however most of the options I found were over $200 which seems high to me.

I was wondering if anybody can make a recommendation for where to buy a berlin style sump that is under $200. Not even sure if it's possible. The maximum dimensions that will fit is 30 inches long and 14 inches front to back. I would prefer not to DIY but maybe that is the only way to spend under $200?

A Lot of people here have made their own sump. Its actually pretty easy to do. PetCo Has $1 a gallon sales often. Just pick up an appropriate size tank and get glass cut for baffles at Home Depot. RTV your baffles in and BAM!!! Instant custom sump.

FYI! Some people will tell you to go with acrylic for your baffles because they are easier to cut and customize (i.e Teeth) but I did it and I kind of regret it. As soon as I filled one chamber it started to bow and now 6 months in and the seams are starting to come apart. Im pretty certain nothing will happen because all the chambers even but ehhh... I should have gone with glass baffles.
