sump

I have a 75 gal DT with a 20T sump. I just order a Vortex IN-180 and will need a new sump. Plan to go shoopng tonight. Going to look for something around 25 to 30 gal about 36" long. My question is in the ref, how deep do you guys put your sand?? I'll also have cheato and red mangroves in the same compartment. Plus a few other micro algae for Tang feed. LOL

I have between 2.5" & 3" in mine with Cheato.

i have a mixed Substrates, mix with Marine Biosediment, 6 lbs. by Kent Marine and Refugium Mineral Mud, there is from 2 to 3" inches of it in my refuge section and 8 inches in my mangrove section, (thats another story on its own). there is no sand in my refuge and 1 bag of sand in my mangrove section mixed with the other two items.
