I don’t know if you can see by the picture, but I have my overflows coming together into the first section. There’s an under baffle and skimmer section and an over baffle to set height for skimmer. My question is, I’m having issues with a slim like floating on top of first section. If I put an over baffle prior to under baffle in first section, will that make the water level stay consistent with the over baffle after skimmer. I’m trying to make the top of water become fresh to get the slime out from first section.

Better in the sump than in your display. It is just surface film. I have a little bit in my tank because i dont have a sump. I just keep the surface stirred up and it doesnt get too bad. You could put a powerhead in there pointed up to break the surface.

Yes you can add an over baffle before the under and it will take care of the problem. The water height at the skimmer is set by the last baffle between skimmer and return pump section. So the water level there won’t change.
I do have a question after looking at your sump and the running water levels you have. Looks like the sump is almost full, even with your return pump running. What happens when your return pump turns off? Do you have enough sump capacity to hold all the water that will back flow from the return line?

Wow... that water is high in the sump! That looks like an accident waiting to happen if that return pump shuts off... maybe there are backflow valves in the lines? If not, might want to lower all those baffles quite a bit.

Hmmm I don't really get how you have your baffles set up. I agree with previous replies that your water level is dangerously high. You say that you have an under baffle between skimmer and drain, yet the drain section seems to almost be overflowing and the skimmer section like an inch lower... If there's a working under baffle the two water levels should be the same in those two sections.
I would drain some water out of the sump and then turn off the return pump and see how much drains back from the plumbing. Calculate my new baffle height and then readjust the baffles to how you want them.

I’m glad for your concerns but my return has its own 40 breeder tank connected to this sump via (2) 1 1/2” bulkheads. That tank is only quarter full. That tank has at least 3 inches left with everything shut off. It’s the same height of the last chamber on left of picture showing. Thanks for the quick replies
