Sump

Day 2 of a new set-up
I see that sump is over flowing the divider that would separate the incoming water and is flowing directly over into the return area.
This appears to be incorrect?
Please help.

Too much water maybe? Have you tried removing some to see if the water level does in fact go down? Is your return pump powerful enough to keep up with turning the water?
