Shoul I get a sump for a 37 gallon tank? Also if I did get one would 5 gallons be enough for it?

I’m running a hob and a hang on protein skimmer. Someone told me that I should upgrade from a hob. He never mentioned if I should get a canister or sump but o took it as sump. I’m wanting to grow sps and lps. Currently I have soft corals.Anything that increases the overall water volume is a good thing. IMO.
But a 5 gal sump I don't know?
That's fairly small to add anything in.
So my question is what is your plan to do with it?
By the time you put a pump in it there may not be room for much more.
I am planning on getting a 40 gal breeder when Petco has their sale. I then plan to use my existing 20 gal for my sump. Know that you can purchase the "insides" from Fiji Cube for the Aqueon tanks for about $100. Or you can have your own glass cut to fit it too.Shoul I get a sump for a 37 gallon tank? Canisters can be a pain in the rear to maintain and are known as nitrate factories cuz people are too lazy to clean them. Go with a sump. If you're on a tight budget, you dont need baffles. I ran a 30 gallon for years without baffles (had softies, LPS and SPS). But if you dont have baffles, your (new in-sump skimmer) may not function optimally since the water height will decrease with evaporation and increase when you top off.I’m running a hob and a hang on protein skimmer.
