Sump

I would consider it. Pros are it increases water volume for stability, allows a lot more options for equipment, which can help keep the DT from getting cluttered from a lot of equipment.

Only thing a sump would do for you is get the equipment out of the display. Thats all a sump is in reality.

If your thinking of a HOB overflow, I would nix the idea to begin with. Then your dealing with the hassle of draining the tank, drilling it(make sure it's not tempered beforehand), then installing an overflow. Not hard, but something you need to think about.

Might be worth it in the long run to just buy a reef ready 30G tank.

Extra water volume? On a 20G, just buy a 30. lol

Do it. I have a 75 gallon tank and 20 gallon long as my sump. Almost everything is down there out of sight. Plus with a 20 gallon, you will almost double the volume and it will be good practice for plumbing when you get a bigger in a month or two ;)
