Is adding a sump to a 10 gallon nano unnecessary? And if not suggestions on set up. I mean I'd like to have a sump, and refug system have as much as a closed circuit as I can. I dont mind the labor without one but feel it would make a more stable system.

I dont think I would ever do a sump for anything above 30ish gallons especially for lps, softy, or fowlr systems. I think the ease of all in one systems and my sweet spot for nutrient levels, and how easy it is to do a waterchange on a nano, a sump is not necessary.

No reason not to. Get a aqueon 10 gallon aquarium, and a sump kit from Amazon or brs. I'm putting together a 20 long frag tank and got this kit for 55.00 on Amazon tank 27.00 full price, or wait for 50% sale on Petco.

I didn't do a sump for the 10 gal. But I decided to add one on my new 40 gal. Will see so far so good. 48 gal Rubbermaid storage with lid I cut holes for plumbing and electric and made my own filter inside and 40 lbs of dry rock
