Sumpless, Rockless, and Fishless Frag Tank

Recently I've been considering setting up a frag tank. The wife has only one condition, and that is that this won't be another tank that she has to care for whenever I'm gone. Is having a frag tank without any form of filtration a viable option? I would be using water from my DT for water changes and to reduce maintenance I wouldn't have any other form of filtration, so no skimmer, reactors, socks, or anything like that. Am I missing something that would make this a big waste of time? Thanks in advance for any input

Big waste imho. It would be constantly cycling I think. Can you tie it into your system? My coral QT is setup with no rock or any filtration. But I do auto water changes into it all day long every day.

I'm confused... the reason for all that equipment is so there is less maintenance. How long are you gone for when you leave? I think it's very possible to set up an automated hands-off frag tank but the way to do that isn't less equipment.
