After moving and not having a dedicated sump room, I set up the tank with an under tank sump which proved to be like a continual toilet flushing.
I nixed the sump, but wanted to keep the oversized skimmer. This is what I have come up with.
I still have to "finish" the outside of the stand, but it has been working well. Stand is 24 high, 24 deep and 48 long. I made a stand for the skimmer using 2- 2x6's secured on one end to the stand and the other to the wall.
I modified the Geo's Reef skimmer to be Venturi after previously using a Sedra 15000 needle wheel on it. Hooked the Venturi up to a DC aqxuastation swirl DC12000 turned all the way down. Plumbed it using 1" in and 1 1/2" out.
The Skimmer rocks as I feed heavily.
Pay no attention to the temporary UV hookup that is in the tank- had a recent ICH breakout due to new fish addition. I plan on tying it into the drain pre-pump and feed the pump through it. just not this weekend.
Sharing an example with large skimmer idea if anyone wanted to try something like it.
