Hi was wondering if someone could help me so I went to the pet shop today to get a cat fish didn't want something too big. The guy asked for the size of my tank so I said 100 gal. He showed me a cat fish was small but said he didn't know what kind it was so I stupidly got it because I trusted him when he said it should be fine with the fish I have at the minute. But after looking in to the cat fish I suddenly saw it grows to about 40/45cm. In my tank I have a red tailed shark, sword tails, angle fish, two bristlenose plecos, 3 torpedo barbs, some yo yo loaches and a few congos I'm worried these will be eaten by this sun catfish because I can't seem to find if these fish will go with it. So any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you

I can't tell you for sure (not a freshwater guy), but it will probably eat anything that fits in its mouth. The congo tetras especially are in danger. Your LFS will probably take it back, but don't expect a refund.

As I came from Fresh Water I can try to help you.
The Red Tailed Shark will most likely be safe. The Congo Tetras may be at risk. The torpedo barbs will most likely be able to avoid the Sun Cat, same with the loaches. The pleco’s may be safe too.

I've heard that they don't grow as big as 45cm in a fish tank so that's made me feel more at ease with it. Think what I might try and do is see how it goes and even if one fish gets eaten by it I'll have to move it on. But really with the congo tetras? Because mine are already about 7cm so probably just about fully grown. What I've heard is that the sun catfish in captive grow about 13cm I don't know if this is true or not but I phoned one of the pet stores I go to a lot and he explained this to me. Thanks for your reply

He should be alright then, I was thinking maximum possible size when I said about the congos.
