sun coral help

Hello again forum i just got a sun coral today.i drip acclimated it for 1 hour or so and put it in my display and polyps have not opened i turned off all of my lights except my actinic impatiently waiting lol .lfs tested my water and stated all is ok .tried feeding reef chili, mysis, and reef roids. Any suggestions

Give it time. It needs time to adjust and even then it may not open until lights out or feeding times. I'd keep going through your normal routine and if you see it open offer it some meaty foods like mysis, krill or LPS pellets.

Ya thats what i figured just ansy and worried that i did something wrong acclimating it .thnx for the quick reply ritter iill keep you posted if it changes.

Im worried cause of the difference in color on the top right it seems to be getting lighter than the bottom left

Looks healthy. I feed reef chili or zo plan and polyps start to come out, then I feed mysis or brine.

Nice pick up, but looks like Cladopsammia gracili,not sun coral. Those are a lot more difficult to maintain in reef tank. They seldom open in higher temperatures, needs lower temp. to thrive and daily feedings. Good luck.

He was selling that one to me for 25.00 he has his chillers at 81 degrees .my tank runs from 77-82

This is sun coral, different from your colony. The growth form of sun is more kind of flat and dome like, where Cladopsammia garcilis is more branching one. If you paid $35 for your colony it is a steal, as those go for about $150 on LA DD. Try putting yours in high flow, with very little light, 77 temp. is still too warm IMO for those. I keep mine at 73.
