as the title says. Sunburst Monti is turning white around the edges. It is not new growth as this part was a nice vibrant orange beforehand.

Temp 77.5
Salinity 1.025
Ph 7.9
Alk 10.2
Calcium 435
Phosphate .03-5
Nitrates 5ppm

No ammonia or nitrites. This is the only coral in my tank that is doing bad. I just can’t figure it out what the issue is.

Look for nudis. They suck. I lost most of my montiporas due to nudis. You’ll see them when lights are off.

I don’t believe it’s a nudi problem. I watch the tank a lot at all hours. Including lights out. But I’m not going to rule that out. But in general cases what’s the cause of this? It’s an awesome piece and I’d hate to lose it.

Imo your alk is way high. I have found that around 8 is a good place to be.

Just let it gradually fall? I’m running through 1 dkh every 3 days. So 6 days seems like a good enough time not to bother the corals with the decrease in alk.

How long has it been in there? I swear my monti’s did better around 7 to 7.5 alk than higher levels. But the would start lightening in color all over and then a spot in the middle would bleach and spread from there, not from the rim.

6 days.
