Sunny D’s stretching

Hello - ever since I added it to my tank months ago it looks like this. Does it need more light?
I have a Kessil 360w on a highest peak at 25% color and 45 % intensity for about 2-4 hrs , the remaining time are ramp up and down.

Yes, needs more light.

Yup more light, kessils really throw out much PAR so you shouldnt worry about burning your corals.

I like how they look that way personally. As long as you are happy with the color. Lighting is a huge factor in growth and coloration. They do stretch for light. I purposely keep some zoas under lower light so they stretch and I can frag them and attach on edges of rocks much easier. They do grow slower though but It’s cool to see the different effects and coloration of the same zoa under different lighting and flow conditions. Thx

I will increase the intensity to 60% for 4 hrs.

There is no need to rush. The stalks on your Sunny D’s are fine - is just not aesthetically pleasing to look at. I would ramp up 5% per week or two until you get to 60% so as not to shock your other coral.

If you are going to increase intensity do it slowly. Kessil has an acclimation program I believe. You can create your new settings then run the acclimation program to get everything slowly used to the new higher intensity. I would stretch it out over 4-6 weeks.

Sunny D needs very strong light and strong current. Mine is at the top.. I recommend you to move it to the top.

I saw u are talking about adjusting the light my 2 cent is just move the zoas higher instead of jeopardizing your other corals that way u fix the sunny ds and keep your corals happy by not adjusting lighting

I did not clearly state my wording
By increasing it, I will do 5% for days until it reach to 60%.
My tank is a Lagoon so it isn’t so deep.
