Last week I bought a small colony of Sunny D zoas. The first 4-5 days they were open and well. The last 2-3 days they have been closed up tight. All the other zoas in the tank are wide open.

Is this normal? Last week my fire and Ice colony closed up for 2 days as well but they are back to normal now.

I did feed a bad of pods last week. Could the zoas have eaten some and that is why they are closed?

I do not think the pods are the reason. I would still check your water chemistry. SunnyDs are pretty hardy so I would pull the piece and dip it and remove any algae from the plug and try different placement, perhaps in an area with less intense lighting.

Dip with what? I understand that you can dip zoas in iodine

My sunny d get mad every now and then and open right back up. Very hardy.

My sunny Ds are the reason i found out my tank was a low KH tank. They closed up for about 1 week and i couldnt get them to open no matter what till i tested my KH for the first time and came out at 6dkh while everything was happy and fine they wernt. I brought my dkh to about 11 over the course of a week and they look even happier now. One thing is though they love high light.

I don't have low kH, but I was blasting everything with too much white light spectrum.

I turned it down and the next day almost everything responded positively. The sunny D's are still closed up but it has only been 2 days.

I realized there was a problem when I dissolved an expensive pink lemonade.
