Sunpower

I am a big fan of T5 and T5 hybrid lights and want to go that route on my 125g setup. The price of the powermodule to cover my 6ft tank is just not something I want to do. Has anyone out there modified the sunpower to include LEDs? Anyone built (diy) anything close to the powermodule?

Most people will add LED strips for supplementation on the outside. The hardware allows you to attach them easily and you also have the ability to angle them in. They're mainly for looks, the Sunpower will do all the main work on growth and coloration.

Mounting Orphek bars inside the fixtures/replacing a few tubes with them is fairly common and easy.
Mounting them on the outside is even easier
