Hi all I have had this patch on my sunset monti frag for around a week now and I'm not sure what's causing it. Lighting is 2 hydra 26hds flow is a nero 5 and vortech mp10. Water params as of today are alk 8dkh,cal 420ppm, mag 1320ppm, nitrate 5ppm, phosphate 0.03mg/l, salinity is 35ppt. Rest of it has remained unaffected and everything else is fine. Does anyone know if it's anything to be concerned about?

could be anything. possible salt creep landed on it and burned it. to be safe put a superglue bandaid on it

Hi yes all corals are dipped with rx pro. Other montis are fine. I have 4 emerald crabs 4 peppermint shrimps, and various snails. I did see an emerald on it a while ago I guess it could be connected. I'm guessing just leave it and hopefully it will recover?

Further leaning towards critter, and I wouldn’t suggest touching it with anything, leave it alone. I love emerald crabs and have a few but some tend to go rouge and get a taste for corals. UV flashlight at night might help but who wants to be up all night on watch duty. I’d set a trap for the crabs if you see more damage. If you start seeing injury to your LPS or missing zoas, I’d remove your peppermints.

The peppermints were necessary as I had a plague of aips which are now gone thankfully. Same with the emeralds they were in there for valonia. Touch wood all LPS are fine. I have a red light torch I use to check and haven't found anything. It should recover shouldn't it? it's one of my favourites out of what I have!!

Right, sitting here watching the tank lights just gone off and one of the larger emeralds is picking at the sunset or at least very close to it. Seems it's being eaten. How the hell am I going to catch them!!

Still seems to be much the same it's so frustrating I'm sending an icp off this week so see what that says. I thought sunset monti would be fairly easy to keep.
