I got this frag a few weeks ago. At first it looked ok like the picture belwo, but last couple of weeks has had no polyp extension at all and shows no growth. I have it on the bottom of the tank with good flow. 3 Hydra 26 HDs over tank which is a Reefer 350. All other sps are doing good with PE and noticeable growth in the same time frame. Not sure if any other placement would be good. Should i place it in some shade for a bit and see?

Where are your nitrates and phosphates at?

I purchased one in January and it looked great for about 1 week, then it went into hibernation mode until I was able to bring down my phosphates.

What it looked like when I first got it. And I'll see if I can find pics when it went to sleep on me, and I'll take a pic when I get gome today after I brought my phosphates down to .06

Nitrates are at around 4 ppm and Phosphates at .02. Mine definitely is in hibernation mode.

Retracted polyps could be too much light Ernie.

Might be, but I also have 3 hydra 26hd with aquaticlife t5 hybrid. Mine is in the lower part of the tank, and its getting about 190-200 par.

No idea what those palys are @chasewood79. Liked the color they had and picked them up.

Dont feel bad cause I do the same. I call them all Zoas.

so its been a few days in a different spot with no change. I'm barely at .02 in PO4 so not sure what else. Don't have any other corals showing weird signs. Any other suggestions?

So I’ve moved this guy around and still won’t open. Still has its color and otherwise doesn’t look distressed just no pe.

I definitely had a hard time encrusting stylo’s for some time with no pe, tight tissue, and basically all of them died slowly for 5-6 months. Across the board all of them had the same problem (burning banana, wwc spiderman and crimson, Scarlet fever). I figured it out.

They don’t like a ton of light at all/and mine do better with higher nutrients. After figuring that out I’ve had great success the past year and good growth all are pretty much on the bottom of my tank. Very sensitive to say the least when my nutrients get to low they start lose PE. The picture you can see the PE is limited in areas directly hit by my led bar when it’s asking for more nutrients.

Thanks. I moved to to a shaded ledge. I don’t have high nutrients though. Nitrates are pretty stable at 4ppm and phosphate stable at .02ppm. I’ll see if the shade makes a difference.
