Hi all,

Recently my Yellow Watchman Goby passed so I am on the lookout for a new one. I have a yellow Pistol shrimp and was thinking if this one is a good combination or not. Your opinions would be great!

It’s a crap shoot with any of them.
That said, my aurora has not paired with my tiger and have been together for over a year. These guys do best with Randall’s shrimp.

Whether or not gobies pair with the shrimp. Sometimes they just never do, other times it happens instantly.
Best bet is to get the natural shrimp goby pairing.
whats the best way to pair them? just put them in the tank or tell the LFS to put them in a tank together?

Amblyeleotris species will bond with a pistol, as mentioned above this is a genus that does best with the Randall’s Pistol however you can pair them with a Yellow Pistol. To pair them is 50/50, easiest way to pair them is introducing the font into the same side of the tank as the pistol shrimp.
Good luck!

Often if you purchase them together it increases the chances. Otherwise, I would introduce them near each other in your tank and hope they find each other - no guarantees though.

I believe they are separate tanks. Would putting them in same transportation bag be enough or should they be seperate

I don’t think it would make a huge difference. Pistol can go straight to dt and I would qt the goby first anyway.
Once both are in the dt you can help them find a hiding spot.

Really just building up a spot that seems the most ideal (best fortified, more rubble there) and introducing them there. No guarantees like always, but it’s worth a shot.
