C. jordani (Flame wrasses)!!! Got them today as a subadult changing male and a female. I'm really excited to have them as I was looking for a pair of wrasses. Wish I could have afforeded a trio but as it was, I was pushing it with the hubby. :D Got them as an early Valentine's Day present. lol. They are already eating and they are getting along well with each other and the other tank residents. I need to get my top made ASAP because I don't want any accidents. I will get pictures up in a few days once they are fully colored and relaxed. If you have any pictures of your flame wrasses please post! I would love to see their progress, and hear what works best for you as far as feeding and tank mates. Currently, mine are being housed in my 125.

SWEET! I love those fish! :)

Congrats! Flames are in my top ten wrasse list. :)

However, two words of advise: You really needed a screen cover, like, yesterday. One of the top reasons wrasses jump is something startled them, and brand new tankmates in a new tank (environment) are great catalysts for that. Please cover ASAP. They are not instinctively used to the surface being within a couple feet of them; up is a natural direction for them to move in need of escape.

Second, don't be surprised if the female ends up male in a year or so. It's quite common for flame pairs in a closed system. If this happens, you'll need to keep an eye on the situation. They may work it out, or they might fight pretty bad. Just be vigilant and remove one if necessary.

Thanks! I'm making the top tonight. Hopefully I don't come home to a kitty with a piece of sushi.
Would it help the situation if I had a trio of them or is it possible for all to change?

Congratulations, these are amazing fish! I received a male Hawaiian Flame Wrasse, about a month ago and LOVE IT! It's in a 200, without a cover. I'm not planning on covering this tank, and so far, so good.

Here's a photo of mine.

Anything's possible, and no two tanks are the same, unfortunately. It's possible your female will stay female. Another female may help, but there's no guarantees here.

Oh, as far as feeding goes, they'll eat whatever you provide. Feed something meaty 2-3 times per day (small amounts) for best results.

Congrats. Flames are great.

I have a tank full or wrasses and while its not much, I hear a few of them pop out of the water sometimes.

Thanks for the replies! Hopefully my girl will stay a female. I'd like to see them interact as a pair. So far they hang out and sleep in the same area. As they are sub-adults, they don't have their full color yet so they are more pinkish now then red and yellow.

Congrats on the Flame pair. The male in my pair is changing as well. I'm sure your as wow'd as I am watching the transformation.
