Hey fellow reefers so I've noticed something strange which is my red Monti Digitata is growing very well on the tips but at the base it is not encrusting at all and in fact the tissue is wearing away a little bit. I'm wondering if this is because of the gel super glue or might something else be causing it? It seems like most of my other SPS will grow up/out as well but does not want to encrust. The only one that will encrust is the plating montipora. Any thoughts appreciated...

Thanks yeah it seems like a stretch I just can't figure out why there is good growth but no encrusting

my guess is lack of trace elements, or there was a recent swing/change in something where it didn't react well. do you have other montipora's? are they exhibiting the same thing? try to use a flash light during lights off to see if you see any montipora eating nudi's.

Thanks I will definitely look for any evidence of nudibranches. Missing trace elements an interesting idea too.
