Hi all,

I was just wondering if common superglue (not reef ) can stall the cycle process at all? I’ve been cycling for 2 1/2 weeks, with established bio media in sump and dr Tim’s and the ammonia has not moved from 2ppm at all, and hardly shown any nitrate (5ppm)

thanks in advance

Reef superglue and normal superglue is generally the same thing just different thicknesses and doubt it would have any impact to your cycle if it was cynoacralate.

sounds like your cycle is starting, you could see nitrate in about a week. if you didn't use any bottled bacteria this is a normal timeline. if you did use a bottle, it may have been a bit slow to start due to the water you used or a lack of an ammonia source.

superglue does release chemicals as it cures but they shouldn't affect the bacteria in any major way.

I agree superglue won't affect your cycle - at least not that's been on the web yet.
What NH3 test are you using? Are you able to test your water with someone else's kit? If so and travelling, cap your water sample.

If you're not adding more ammonia, it should have started dropping around week 1.
What were the NH3 tests during the first 10 days?

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
