Super glue? Really?

What I use is a combination of JB water weld and superglue gel. I first put some super glue gel on the frag, then I put the waterweld, then super glue on the waterweld and attach to rock. It works very well and stays put!

Hi,

Use this all the time. Only annoying thing is I end up holding it in place for about a minute. The good thing is I place it on the frag before I put it in the water, the dip it in the water and the gel forms a skin pretty quick so it doesn’t flow all over. It is just the set time that drives me nuts. BRS has an accelerant if I remember, but never used it

Yeah I did the glue jb weld glue. Works great. Except when you upgrade and all the frag plugs are still stuck on the rock.

The ones I just glued down were not on plugs. They were on Little Rock’s : )

I use a different brand but it’s still made of super glue and it’s fine, never had any problems

BTW, super glue is NOT toxic. You know the medical profession uses it to close large wounds. Yea it’s a medical grade but basically the same thing.

One thing I should mention a large snail can still dislodge a superglued frag. Just keep an eye on the frags and watch for them incase a snail still knocks one loose.
I have a snail the size of a golf ball and it knocks stuff loose once in a while.

Super glue (cyanoacrylate) was made to seal wounds, it is not toxic at all to corals and when attaching fragments to plugs it cures pretty quick once you get it into the water. But as has been said 100 times already make sure it is as thick of the gel kind as you can get.

I did it to the two of mine in most danger... they just kept getting knocked around. I’ll probably end up doing it to several more. I watch everything like a hawk : ) I’ll keep my eyes on em : )

I have some very persistent little snails... they keep knocking over a few of my smaller corals. So, I picked up an Aquastick (epoxy putty)... like in the old days

I have now read twice and told once my an LFS guy.... to use a drop or two of super glue on the putty itself and then stick it in the tank.

Is that for real? Using super glue in my reef tank?

Okay so, I just glued a couple s is awesome. One thing tho.... it’s kinna permanent! Make sure you are happy with where you put something : )

I gave up using 2-part putty/epoxy for frags about 6 years ago, but I still use it for new 'scaping and cure it in a tub. I find the putty/epoxy stuff, if played with even just a little bit, gets all over hardware as there's always some film that floats around.

I've been using only superglue gel for all these years now.
I scrub the LR with a nail/toothbrush to clear away any mulm. Then I dab the frag on a towel, put a blob of gel on the base and mash it into the rock. The I take the frag back out, add a bit more glue and put back on the rock. After holding for say 30 seconds, I let go and use my finger to mash the glue around the base into the rock. Then I watch it for about 5 mins while it's stiffening, or if need be hold it while it stiffens.
Removal is a piece of cake using a small flat-head screwdriver, even years later.

Most gels I've used need to be shaken well before use, and then hammer the cap against your palm to prime the bottle.
