Super new please help

Assuming that you have a reef tank, then it needs a stable system, preferably running for 6-12 months. The parameters should be within "normal reef parameters", and the lighting will depend on exactly which type of anemone you want to keep, some require stronger lighting than others.

Ok thank you so much I haven’t had the tank that long little over 2 months and I have a puffer so I wasn’t sure I could reef but the puffer don’t care about anything but sleeping

You can keep rock flower anemones and mini carpet 'nems in fairly new tanks; rock flower nems are particularly hardy. You should be able to try them at the four month mark.

I know everyone says they’re very hardy but I bought 8 and only have 3 left. Lots of money down the drain in my case.

What all does it take to start taking care of nems
If this is a newer tank, anemones dont do well in tanks under 4 - 6 months because they are sensitive to water changes and require ideal conditions to stay in good shape which often requires water changes which they dont favor. Take time to get tank parameters just right and allow the system cycle for a few months which assures that conditions are stable and safe for your anemone.
Monitor water regularly to assure there are no swings with ammonia and nitrate levels verified by using a good quality test kit and Not API either.
Here are some water parameters to follow.
  • Water temp: 77°F - 80°F (stay close to the middle of this range)
  • pH level: 8.1 to 8.4
  • Alk: 8 to 11 dKH
  • Salinity: 1.024 to 1.025
  • Nitrate < 5 -10
  • Phosphate < .06 - .1
Acclimation is important for them as is introduction. Most nems will move around the tank until they find an ideal spot in the tank .

Thank you so much this is what I have now I am wanting something that my clownfish can flourish in
