The pump for my protein skimmer broke many, many years ago, so have haven't skimmed for a long time. Since adding much more livestock to my tank, my phosphates sky rocketed. I have the actual skimmer, but I need to replace the pump. The guy that used to do my water changes kept the broken pump all this time but didn't replace it because my family didn't want to pay for another one (no need at the time).

The guy sent me a picture of the pump, but I just wanted to double check that this is the correct model pump for my current skimmer. It isn't cheap, so buying the correct one, once, is important.

Are you paying for someone to do maintenance and equipment care on your tank?
Is this guy buying the pump himself and doing the change up?
I see a couple different prices on the internet for that pump.

I can't quite read the model number of the skimmer, so I can't be sure.

We used to have a guy come over regularly, but not anymore.

He was supposed to buy it for us and we pay him back.

I’m home now so I can read the model: Super Reef Octopus RO-RPS-2000ext

I see that Aquacave has a BB HY 2000 skimmer pump for $225
This looks like it may be for a internal skimmer. Maybe they use the same pump. I'd call them.
Coralvue has it for $240.
Again I'd call them.

Depending on what your guy is going to charge you to do this, it may be cheaper to order one yourself.

Thank you. I am getting it myself. The protein skimmer is external, it doesn’t go in the sump. I’m going to contact them.

There may be a dc skimmer pump available for your skimmer. In my case turned out to be much quieter.
Coralvue would know.

I have a nearly new HY2000S skimmer pump that I use for spare but end up sitting for couple year. I can let it go for $200 shipped.
