Could I just use a spare 10 gallon tank, small power heat, cheap light and heater coupled with marine pure gems to use as a coral and invert qt? No sand, rock, hob filter... just the power head for flow and weekly 50-75% water changes using water from the display tank? I am just trying to make this as simple as possible as I really just want a minimum a place to hold the corals so I can do a second or third dip with 5-7 days between. Thoughts?

sounds like it will work, i dont see an issue. good luck!

Building on this... does it need to cycle if being seeded with marine pure from my display tank and water from the same? Or can I set up and move corals in same day?

I setup my 20 gallon coral QT with water and Marine Pure Balls from my DT and put corals in the same day. I also added a bottle of Bio Spira for good measure and it's been up and running now for three weeks with no issue. Ammonia and Nitrite never spiked and are at 0PPM and my Nitrate is at around 3 PPM so all is good. I do have live sand and rock and an AI Prime light as well though.

Here's a pic of my coral QT:

Any inverts? Or all coral?

I threw in a couple Conchs and a few Turbo Snails I had in my Invert QT to take care of hair algae because I had a bit of an outbreak, (usually happens when I use Bio Spira) so they will be in the tank until the algae is gone.
