Hello All,

I have this monti for couple of months ... got as a small frag and it came up nicely with nice color... I see the center part turning pale may be white I guess for the last one week and it is rapidly moving to other part of the frag... A brief history ... I have to use red slime remover three weeks back to clean the slime and everything is clean now ... Did water changes three times in the last three weeks ... Like 30 %, 10% & 10 % ... All other frags are doing fine... Have couple of easy SPS frags and some LPS ... Any help is appreciated ... I know .. water chemistry ... ALK is around 9.75 (Hanna Kit) .. I don't measure Nitrate and Phosphate ... I do clean my glass once in a week which tells me the Nitrate and Phosphate...

Thanks

Do you have a calcium or magnesium test kit?

Do you know what your params were before your 50% (total) water change?

All of the above;)
Monti like the water a little dirty I have found. I would suggest testing Ca, Mg, Alk, phosphates and nitrates to know were you system is at.

I would also suggest feed, feed, feed. Here is some information that might be helpful link

Yes I do use Hanna kits ... Calcium is around 420 ... Mag around 1400 ... As I said I dont test Nitrate and Phosphate.

Its is more or less the same before water change as well

Thanks

Thanks everyone ... Will this survive ? Should I change more water ?

A 50% waterchange can stir up parameters quite heavily. Especially the ones you wouldnt usually check like salinity, temperature and even ph. Maybe you made a slight mistake with measuring salt or salinity. I once had a issue with my refractometer being loose so i would get a reading of 1.020 salinity all of the time. Luckily i didnt panic and found out about it. So if something is off take everything in account. For example I have some gha from time to time and it litters my overflow. This causes my waterlevel in the dt to rise and the waterlevel in the sump to fall. Therefore my ato pumps ro water into the system which decreases salinty. This could cause issues on sensitivy corals.

If the underlying issue that's causing its demise is not corrected it will not survive. A 50% water change is pretty significant I wouldn't do another. You could frag off the good portions and see if they survive, then maybe if the conditions that caused it to go downhill have been corrected will allow it to recover. It's gonna take a lot longer to grow back than it took to get to what it looks like now. I have found that montis are pretty strong corals at bouncing back so it's got a chance.

Update - This is coming back up ... All I did was , took GFO offline....
